Bringing Hope to Nepal

INITIATIVES

School Girl

Rescue and Restoration

By providing access to quality education and a supportive learning environment, your sponsorship will protect vulnerable children from exploitation and empower them with knowledge, skills, and confidence to resist traffickers' snares. Together, we can break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability, ensuring a brighter future for Nepal and transforming the lives of these precious children.

Trafficking Awareness

Our mission is to educate children, families, and churches about the dangers of sex trafficking and sexual abuse. Through comprehensive training, we empower them to become advocates in their own communities, raising awareness and working together to protect and prevent harm to vulnerable children and women. Together, we can create a safer environment and put an end to sex trafficking and sexual abuse.

Legal Support

Karuna Care provides legal assistance and guidance to those who are victims of human trafficking. Our team ensures that survivors receive the necessary legal protection, advocacy, and representation, helping them navigate the complexities of the legal system in Nepal.

OUR STORY

Karuna Care was born because of the incredible journey of its co-founder, Sharmila Ghrimire whose life took a miraculous turn when God healed her from terminal heart disease. This profound experience inspired Sharmila and her husband, Dhan Raj, to embrace Christianity and discover their true calling: to serve and uplift women and children facing tough situations on the streets and those caught in the clutches of trafficking.

With hearts full of compassion and faith, Sharmila, a nurse, and Dhan Raj, a schoolteacher, decided to embark on this mission together. They took a leap of faith in 2006, leaving behind their regular jobs, and thus, Karuna Care was born.

A New Calling

In the very first year, they managed to touch the lives of over 100 street children, offering them hope and a brighter future. As time went on, their outreach expanded, encompassing the rescue and support of exploited women as well.

Today we can proudly say that 365 women have been rescued and joyfully reunited with their families, while 1325 street children have been given a new lease on life through the care and support of Karuna.

As their vision continued to grow they shared their dream for helping vulnerable women and children internationally with others, adding global partners and registering Karuna Care International as a non-profit organization.

How is my donation used?

The sponsorship program is truly a comprehensive solution that aims to provide children facing challenging circumstances with a solid educational foundation. These children come from backgrounds that are often tough, such as those who might be begging, have parents involved in sex work, have survived trafficking, or reside in slums. In these cases, the Karuna Care Initiative (KCI) steps in to make a real difference in their lives.

KCI's involvement goes beyond the surface. They work tirelessly to rescue these children and then find a way to reconnect them with their families or provide them with a safe home. The beauty of this program lies not only in the rescue efforts but also in the heartfelt conversations with parents or guardians to ensure a supportive family environment.

But that's just the beginning. KCI ensures that these children are given the opportunity to attend school, providing them with the necessary school supplies and covering fees. Each morning, the kids gather at the Karuna center, a place that acts as a bridge between their homes and school. Here, they not only receive a nourishing lunch but also a sense of belonging.

The educational journey continues as these children head to school, where they gain knowledge and experiences that open up new horizons for them. After school hours, they return to the center, where dedicated educators offer homework assistance and support. Beyond academics, the center buzzes with exciting extracurricular activities that bring joy and enrichment into their lives.

As the day draws to a close, dinner is provided at the center, wrapping up a day filled with learning, growth, and fun. This program is more than just schooling; it's a transformative experience that empowers these children, helping them rise above their challenging circumstances and providing them with a solid foundation for a brighter future.
